You must have noticed, or at least heard, about the completed reconstruction of Mendl Square. Our colleague, Prof. RNDr. Lukáš Krmíček, Ph.D., participated in the selection of, for our area, untypical pavement made of red granite. It is commonly used in the Nordic countries and the particular one used in Mendel Square is of the vanga type. The choice of the shade of black granite was oriented so that the resulting shade would best reflect the colour of the nearby basilica’s bricks. The Munsell Rock Colour Chart can be used as a guide to this, see images. The winning shade can already be seen on the pavement of Mendel Square or in the attached photos. You can get more information from the reportage of ČRo Brno.
